All roads lead to Rome
With the death of Thomas
Becket, people make the pilgrimage to Canterbury where he was buried.
Canterbury is the starting point of the Via Francigena, a medieval route of trade
and pilgrimage. But the route was born by the Archbishop of Canterbury Sigeric The Serious,
that in 990 went to Rome to meet the Pope. On his return to Canterbury he noted all of his steps. And so the Via Francigena runs from
Canterbury to Rome.
